Backstop, Netting & Safety
January 29, 2022
The baseball experience in Mahtomedi has fallen behind in comparison to other schools in its conference and around the state. We need your help so players, parents and fans can experience Mahtomedi Baseball the way it’s supposed to be! In order to create an atmosphere that reflects the spirit and success of Mahtomedi Baseball, as well as the supportive community where it resides, a rebuilding project was proposed to include a new backstop and fencing, addition of bleachers and improved signage.
In February of 2022, the Mahtomedi School District recognized and agreed to address safety issues at the varsity baseball field. The district proposed improvements for player, fan and bystander safety by installing a new backstop and netting behind the backstop and along the right field line. The school school district will go out for bid in March with proposed construction to begin in July.Â
With Phase 1 of the capital project now being addressed by the school district, the Mahtomedi RBI Club will focus it's attention on Phase 2 which includes fundraising for new bleachers, improving the bull pens and updating the batting cages. It is hoped the majority of the work will be complete by the 2023 season.
